A Peruvian indigenous community puts an end to an illegal mine, with Rainforest Foundation UK’s support
The Masenawa community, living in the Madre de Dios region (Peru), works in collaboration with RainForest Foundation UK since 2017. This initiative aims to monitor criminal activities based on the Forestlink technology. Thus, using a smartphone, the inhabitants of the region were able to provide to the local indigenous organization, FENAMAD, proofs of an illegal mine’s set up and allow the authorities to intervene quickly.
All the details on this operation are available on the RFUK website.
This project is funded by Fondation Ensemble.
